The Canadian Lynx is of the largest Lynx found in North America being slightly larger than a bobcat with weights between 15-40lbs. In Canada, Lynx hunting is only permitted within the province of British Columbia making this the only destination for hunters looking to harvest a mature tom. The northern coastal region of B.C. is known for its great densities of snowshoe hare, being the primary food source of the Lynx, making it the top destination for a hunter wishing to pursue a prime pelt in the depth of winter.
Our hunting concession sits amongst the highest densities of lynx found in B.C. with an abundance of heavy, mature Lynx. A diverse ecosystem in the northern coastal region our area lays amongst, provides the perfect mix of habitat and feed. Allowing us to properly manage a healthy and stable population of mature toms for a very limited number of clients each season. This gives our clients a better chance of harvesting a long and heavy tom with a prime pelt.
All of our lynx hunting is done by means of calling and tracking, clients will be accompanied by their guide the entire duration of the hunt. During your Lynx hunt you can expect earlier mornings in search of fresh tracks, your guide will manage time wisely with multiple sets each day, as this time of year can produce short days. lynx hunting is a game of patience and requires a good shot on a small target we recommend a smaller flat shooting caliber for this hunt.
Patience is a virtue while hunting Lynx. A hunter wanting a Lynx needs to come prepared for cold sits and dressed appropriately. Any hunter capable of staying focused and awake for the duration of each and every day can expect a 80% success on a shot opportunity. Nothing compare's outsmarting a Lynx in the depth of winter, it's a very rewarding hunt.
When travelling here your destination is Smithers, British Columbia. A member of our team will pick you up at Smithers airport upon your arrival, from there you will head straight to camp. We handle all transportation to and from Smithers, the hunting area and camp is approximately 40 minutes southwest of the airport.
All of our lynx hunts are 1x1 guided and are 5 full hunting days. Longer trips can be booked upon request.
Hunters also have the option of making it a full 8 day Wolf/Lynx combination hunt.
Lynx can be added to a late season Canada Moose Hunt, late season goat or a wolf hunt. black bear hunt.
